The move to the
Atkins Diet phase 3 pre-maintenance level is the phase that bridges the
gap between losing weight and maintaining weight. It
is a crucial phase because you will learn so much about what
your food tolerances are. The rules you must follow
are listed below.
- Increase your daily intake of carbohydrate by no more than 10 grams each week.
- Add new foods one at a time.
- Eliminate a new food if it causes weight gain.
- If you gain weight, drop back to the next lowest level of carb intake.
- Continue eating adequate amounts of protein and fat during this Atkins phase.
- Continue taking your vitamin and mineral supplementation.
- Advance slowly in this phase. Try to lose 1 lb. or less per week for 2-3 months.
- Increase daily carb intake by 10 grams per week as long as you continue to lose weight
on the Atkins diet.
- There is a fine line between losing weight and gaining weight. You may have to play with your
CCLL and CCLM to find your body tolerance.
