ATKINS DIET PLAN



PHASE 3 -

Pre-Maintenance

The move to the Atkins Diet phase 3 pre-maintenance level is the phase that bridges the gap between losing weight and maintaining weight.  It is a crucial phase because you will learn so much about what your food tolerances are. The rules you must follow are listed below.

  1. Increase your daily intake of carbohydrate by no more than 10 grams each week.
  2. Add new foods one at a time.
  3. Eliminate a new food if it causes weight gain.
  4. If you gain weight, drop back to the next lowest level of carb intake.
  5. Continue eating adequate amounts of protein and fat during this Atkins phase.
  6. Continue taking your vitamin and mineral supplementation.
  7. Advance slowly in this phase.  Try to lose 1 lb. or less per week for 2-3 months.
  8. Increase daily carb intake by 10 grams per week as long as you continue to lose weight on the Atkins diet.
  9. There is a fine line between losing weight and gaining weight. You may have to play with your CCLL and CCLM to find your body tolerance.
